The short version

  • Essential cookies keep you signed in. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • Analytics and campaign storage are first-party, sent only to us, and follow your Preferences.
  • Sites our customers publish set their own cookies, under their own policies.

A summary for convenience, not part of the document. The numbered sections below govern.

What we set #

Essential cookies from our authentication provider keep your session signed in across the suite, and a small number of first-party preferences (like your theme choice) make the product remember how you left it. We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Analytics, consent and campaign storage #

These are kept in your browser's own storage rather than in cookies, and are sent only to us. None of them holds your name or email address.

KeyPurposeKindHow long
sl-consentThe choices you made in Preferences, and the version of this policy they answer. It is how we keep to them.EssentialUntil you clear your browser's storage; we ask again when this policy changes
sl-visitor-idA random id sent with each choice you make, so our record of what you chose can be told apart from anyone else's.EssentialCreated when you first choose; kept until you clear your browser's storage
sl_session_idA random id for one browser tab, so the pages read in one visit count as one session.AnalyticsRemoved when the tab closes, or when you turn analytics off
sl_anonymous_idA random id that links your visits to one another.AnalyticsCreated only once you allow analytics; removed when you turn it off
sl_utmThe campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content) of the link that brought you here.MarketingCreated only once you allow marketing; removed when you turn it off

Until you choose, a page view is counted with the tab's session id only, and with no campaign tags. If you turn analytics off, nothing is sent at all. We record the address of the page without its query string, and only the site a visit came from, never the page. You can change your choices at any time from Preferences, at the foot of our public pages.

Sites published through Stacklumen #

Sites our customers publish may set their own cookies. Those belong to the site's owner and are governed by their policies, not this one, and the owner is responsible for any consent their visitors are owed.
