Product 3 questions
What is Baselumen?
A component library, site templates, a print designer, web tools and an agent bridge, in one app. You copy components into HTML, React, Vue, Svelte or Terminal, start sites from templates, design print and brand work, and audit pages, from one account.
Who makes it?
Stacklumen, which also makes the Hub and Terminal at stacklumen.com. One Stacklumen account signs you in to all of them.
Where do things live in the app?
Components are at /app/components, templates at /app/templates, tools at /app/tools with past runs in /app/reports, and the designer and design library at /app/designs.
Components 4 questions
Which frameworks do the components come in?
HTML + CSS, React, Vue, Svelte and Terminal. There are 185 components, each with its source in every build and an anatomy doc. See the component system.
Is there a limit on copying?
No. Copies are recorded, not limited. A pasted component is files you own: a later change to the library never reaches a live site on its own.
What is the free set?
A starter set of components, marked free, chosen so a Free plan can still build a whole page: a bar, a hero, the sections of a marketing page, a form and a footer. Every component's HTML and CSS are open to every plan; the free set is what the Free plan takes in the React, Vue and Svelte builds once billing is switched on.
Can I make my own components?
Yes. Component Studio makes a typed React starter from a description, inside Baselumen, without an AI key. An agent connected over MCP can also create, edit and fork custom components for your workspace.
Templates 3 questions
What is a template?
A whole Astro site. There are 12, each fully static, so it imports into Terminal page for page and needs no JavaScript to do so.
How do I use one?
Anyone can browse and preview them. Once your workspace owns one, download it as a .zip or open it in Stacklumen Terminal, where Create a site starts a new site from every page and Add to site imports the pages you choose.
Are templates part of a plan?
No. Each template is bought once per workspace, by an owner or admin, and that is true during the private alpha too.
Tools 3 questions
What tools are there?
14: 5 instant tools that run in your browser, and 9 URL audits that read a live page, covering SEO, structured data, performance, accessibility and security. See the tool system.
Do I need an account?
Yes, every tool but Tailwind → CSS needs you signed in. Viewers and a client's guests cannot run audits.
Where do past audits go?
To Reports: every URL audit your workspace has run, filtered by site and by tool, with the score over time and a printable copy of each.
Design 2 questions
What is the designer for?
Print and brand work at its real size: artboards in millimetres with bleed, from 9 presets such as business cards, A4, A5, A6 and logo lockups, with vector tools. See the design system.
How does a design get to a website?
Export it as SVG, or as PNG at 300 or 72 dpi, or push it to a Terminal site's assets. A push is proposed first, only an owner or admin carries it out, and every push is recorded.
Agents 4 questions
How does my agent connect?
Through the MCP endpoint at /app/api/mcp. An agent that supports it signs in with your Stacklumen account and you choose Allow; an agent that cannot sign in uses a bl_ token. Only the workspace owner connects agents and makes tokens. See agents.
What can an agent do?
There are 32 MCP tools: search the library and fetch source, build and edit your own components, pin components to a Terminal site, create and edit designs and push them, and read your clients and workspace. A token can be limited to some of them by scope.
Do I need an AI key?
No. Baselumen holds no AI key and bills nothing for model use: your agent runs on your own plan.
Is there a CLI?
One is in active development, called baselumen. It will use a workspace token and the same MCP server to search, add components and templates to a project, and run a local MCP server. It is not released yet; until it is, an agent connected over MCP does the same work. See the CLI page.
Billing 3 questions
What does it cost right now?
Baselumen is in private alpha: billing is not switched on, so everything in it is free to a signed-in account, and nothing is charged. Templates are the one exception: they are bought once per workspace.
Does Baselumen have its own plan?
No. One plan per agency covers the Hub, Terminal and Baselumen. The plans and their prices are on pricing.
What happens when billing is switched on?
You will be given notice first, and you will see the price and choose before anything is charged.
Account and data 4 questions
Who owns a workspace and its work?
An account is a person. A workspace holds the team, the clients and the work, and the agency owns the subscription. Members are owners, admins, members or viewers. See agencies.
Who owns what I make?
You do. Stacklumen claims no ownership of anything you put into the products and does not use it to train anything.
How do I export or delete my data?
Write to support@stacklumen.com from the address you sign in with to export, correct or delete your personal data, or to delete your account. An owner deletes a workspace on stacklumen.com. See security.
How do I get help?
Email support@stacklumen.com, use Support in the app's account menu, or read the docs.
